Regular readers will know that ChrisC and I go to Glastonbury Festival every year. Except not this year, because we didn't get tickets. Demand outstrips supply, and this time we didn't get lucky.
Today was the resale of unwanted coach-and-entry packages. I was in my office with a couple of browsers loading. ChrisC was in his, with a minor army of helpers (many of whom, like him, ought really to have been on a conference call). Anyway, Simon got lucky....
WE'RE GOING TO GLASTONBURY :)
(Of course, travelling on a coach means our new car will remain relentlessly grown up with zero festival passes and one National Trust parking permit.)

Date: 2015-04-17 09:39 pm (UTC)I don't know if they have cleverness to stop that.
The trouble, if you have thousands of EC2 instances doing your bidding, is what an instance should do when it successfully loads the booking page. It's difficult to write automated handling of a page you've very seen before! It's probably mildly difficult to get it to identify when it'd successfully loaded the booking page rather than the holding page, given that you won't knew what either looks like until the sale begins.
If it's just going to notify its master, then you have to be ready to take a notification, sign in to the correct instance (which has to have a headful browser, so no cheap Linux boxes) and deal with the payment before it all times out.
So not beyond plausible, but not trivial either!
