It's Thursday! That's, like, practically Friday and thus sounds like a good time for a lyrics quiz.

Simple scoring system: one point for every correct song-title. You can go for extra credit and add the artist if you want, but it will only gain you honour and glory. Please note: correct title. There is a link between all the songs in the quiz, I'm sure you'll work it out.

Responses from my stringent beta-testing and product-development team (or ChrisC, as he's also known) suggest the quiz has come out rather more difficult than intended, but we'll give it a whirl...

[Poll #1834706]

You could always make them as polls people can't see the answers to...

I could, but that wouldn't meet criterion A above (ie "easy to look at if you want to").

But then it's not a quiz, just an honesty test. :)

Yes :)

Back in the day when I appeared to have the time to collate results and produce score charts and so on I used to lock them to results-only-viewable-by-me. These days I figure I'm partly writing them for my amusement, and if people want to google all the answers and fill them in, I'll just let 'em.

Erm, which actually accidentally makes the point that all lyrics quizzes are honesty tests because, y''know, google.

Aren't they all?

Really? How is that done?

Yesterday I posted an LJ cut saying 'I trust you NOT TO CLICK ON THIS' and then a poll for people to confess or lie about having clicked. Several people spotted a loophole: as soon as there were any comments, the poll results became visible to all.

I didn't know about your poll because I didn't click on the link :)

Basically, start your poll like this:

<lj-poll whoview="none">

Values for whoview are none, friends and all. The default is all.

Viewing Poll Results:
See the Entry: Only LiveJournal users who can read the LiveJournal entry can view poll results.
Result Security: All (Everyone), Friends, and None (Only you).
Total Results: With any security level, the total results will be visible for all question types but Text entry.

Thank you. Er... I know I'm an academic and everything but I'm not getting this just now! Will return to it later...

Ah... I've just re-read this and think I may have missed your point originally. If you do a poll with a yes/no question and 16 people answer it, then everyone is always able to see that there are 11 noes and 5 yeses. Setting 'whoview' only affects whether people can see which people gave which answers.

I don't know how your poll is set up because I didn't click today's link either ;)
