...directed at any Chemical Brothers fans.

I'm just curious as to whether anyone can answer this.

What track contains a musical sample which can be represented as:

'    '_-'    '_-'    '

It's all a matter of whether you think like me, I think :)

Wow. That was unexpected.

I think you missed a note out though:

' '-_`' '-_`

Hence the charades comment

Eh ? That looks completely different! (For a start, the notes are going down, not up...)

I'm talking about the plinky-plonky noise that's present on and off throught the track. It sounds (to me) far more like what I wrote than what you wrote.

By the way, though my notation is approximately accurate in pitch and duration, it was far more about "feel".

I remember covering "graphical scores" in GCSE music. They're great. Usually obvious when you hear the music they represent, completely useless up til that point.

>listening to it again<

Unless you're counting what I drew as _ as two notes. It's a bit debatable, and sounds different at different points.

(I'm listening to low-quality mp3s of the track).

Not having the luxury of mp3 at work, I can't comment. Hmm. I'll check this evening.

I'm right.

It's a five note sequence, but the third and fourth (after the two chimes) are slurred. However, there are definitely two notes there.

Well, it's all down to interpretation, innit :)

It sometimes sounds like two notes. But it still sounds more like what I wrote than what you wrote. To me.

Then again, I'm the one who's waiting for a hearing test :)

Huh. Further evidence that what my school claimed was 'GCSE Music' was a complete waste of time. We didn't do anything exciting like that!

They're strange beasties, graphical scores.

Article on them here (http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=000Y7q), which sounds like a bunch of screaming arse.

Try your luck with them by doing the BBC's GCSE music revision question 6 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/gigaflat/music/notation/notation_quiz.shtml).
