Ease my troubles, that's what you do.
Mar. 26th, 2010 03:12 pmIt's Friday, and it's about 3 o'clock. It's time to go underneath the covers (with the lights out).
I always recommend listening to a cover version without knowing what or who it is, so click on the link before reading ahead...

That was Everclear covering Brown-eyed Girl, originally by Van Morrison.
I've never quite been able to decide whether I actually like the catchy jangle of Brown-eyed Girl, or not. I do, however, really like this slowed-down, lazy version. It seems much more suited to lounging around in long grass in the sunshine, besides stadia or otherwise.
Then again, I am quite a big fan of Everclear, and in particular the marvellous Songs from an American Movie Vol I from which this comes. Go on and have a listen to it - recommended representative tracks are AM Radio and Thrift Store Chair.

Date: 2010-04-05 02:39 pm (UTC)I guess there's something to be said for focussing on the irritatingly pointless lyrics rather that the irritatingly catchy plinky-plonkiness of the melody. It's worse than "jangly", REM is "jangly".
