Footnote to my response: I'd normally expect to see him called "Brown" (with no "Mr") if no first name was used. Consequently, whilst Gordon was my first thought your wording also alerted me to potential ambiguity.

Ah, I didn't think of that. I did refer to our beloved PM as 'Mr Brown' in my post about Turing the other day, so it didn't seem unnatural to me.

Although actually, having just mentally replayed the possibility then if you did say "What do you think of Brown today?" it would have triggered the recollection of far too many UPS adverts from the US ("What can Brown do for you?").
