Feb. 23rd, 2006 08:11 pmToday's good application of technology:
I've just applied for my new tax disc online. How exciting. And much better than faffing about in a Post Office queue with multiple recalcitrant bits of paper. And, incidentally, it's a usable interface with clearly written, simple instructions. I've no idea how it is on accessibility guidelines, but on a casual inspection it seems very friendly.
I might feel slightly guilty about depriving the PO of business, given the rate at which the things are closing, but given the heinous queueueues most days in Woodley PO I don't feel it to be in any real danger.

Mmm. French pop. You're far too young to remember that one!

I will cheerfully use this instead of my local PO next time I renew, even though I want my local PO to survive. This is entirely because my local PO doesn't do most of the services I have to use the PO for, including tax discs!
