Come on, you anonymous commenters, own up! I'm all curious!
This is a slightly dual-purpose poll. I want to know what the best-known song (or songs) by each of these artists it. But in some cases, I also want to know how well-known the work of a particular artist acually is at all.
If you can name the band's entire back catalogue, then just tell me what you consider to be the best-known song(s). If you can only name one song, then put that down. If you can name a song, but don't actually know how it goes/have never heard it, then please indicate that, too.
There may be further installments to come as I think of more artists about whom I'm curious.

Date: 2005-05-27 11:07 am (UTC)This applies to nearly everything I listen to, with the exception of the few albums I've heard so often that my title recognition is significantly better. Artists on that list are Eurythmics, Squeeze, Queen, Meatloaf (usually), Tori Amos and U2. There's a couple of bands and artists that I'm hit-and-miss on that get the 'Damn, I know this, now what the hell is it?' reaction - mostly differentiating between Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, Springsteen and other people that sing and play guitars.
In general though, I won't have a clue about music, which will make Darrell roll his eyes yet again at my apparent stupidity.
