Has anyone else noticed Vodafone reception being particularly poor in the recent past ? I thought it was just the Whitby effect, but things don't seem to have improved since I got back. It's hard to be sure, because I live in a Faraday cage, but I think it's worse than normal. Even text messages seem to be doing a poor job of turning up in anything like reasonable time.

Is it just my imagination ? Or is it just that I've dropped my phone once too often, and its poor little antenna can't cope any more ?

My phone died a few months back. Previously it did have a lot of trouble finding the signal. It's the only time I ever bought an extended warranty (well, actually, it was the insurance against theft I was most interested in) and 3 years 11 months into a 4-year policy I got a new phone from the insurers - probably just because they couldn't be bothered to find the fault, or it wasn't cost-effective for them to do so. In the house the signal strength on the old phone was often only 1 or 2 bars, now it's usually almost full strength.

I know reception can vary with phone model - but to the best of my knowledge no one has ever got decent reception in our house, on any phone, on any network - barring (bizarrely) Virgin. Was sad to ditch my Virgin phone, actually, but they don't do contract, and my reception everywhere else was cack.

Must find out what's going on with my phone's insurance.

I've never noticed having a problem. Which may mean I'm unobservant. But on those occasions I've checked, I've had coverage.
