I've got a bit behind... This post relates to the day 110 days after I fell down a mountain and bust my knees.
Not long after my last post, I was off to the hospital to see Mr Consultant again. He read the letter I'd brought along from PhysioLady, waggled my legs about, and declared the ruptured ligaments completely healed.
Sadly, this doesn't mean I'm completely fixed. Quite a long way from it, in fact, though a lot of that is now down to strength/muscle/flexibility/fitness lost over the past few months. Everything's still painful, and there would be lots more physio to do to get back to where I was in February.
Plus, of course, there is still the outstanding matter of the one ligament that I snapped completely. That won't heal, so it's either reconstructive surgery or learn to live with. After further waggling of my right leg, Mr Consultant deemed my knee joint to be problematically lax. I've also noticed quite a lot of instability just in regular walking about, so that was that decided. I'll be off to have a new ligament fixed up in a couple of weeks.
Incidentally, said operation will necessitate a week off on the sofa (and then a couple more weeks working at home on the sofa). If anyone is around in West London the week beginning July 11th, then feel free to pop by and bring me news of the outside world in exchange for tea. (Disclaimer: you will have to make your own tea. I will make sure there are biscuits, though!)
After that, it should be 6-8 weeks until I'm back to how I am now. The forecast is then jogging in 3 months and contact sports in 9-12. Not that I play any other than rapper :) Mind you, I've been well behind schedule on healing up from the injuries so maybe I'm just a bit slow.
And now, throwing common sense to the winds, I am off to Glastonbury tomorrow. This year's festival is going to be verydifferent for me, and I'm really not sure yet how it'll work out. Any band recommendations in the comments, please :)
