PotC

Well, I've now seen Pirates of the Carribean, too. [livejournal.com profile] wimble and I pottered there this evening. It's probably never going to be great cinema, but it is fun.

[ObArr: Arrrrrrrrrrr!]

Is it just me, or did Johnny Depp have voice coaching off Drusilla-from-Buffy?
And did he owe more than a passing nod to the Marquis de Carabas?

Nope, it's not just you - I reckon they both had the same comedy cockerney voice coach.
Hang on, there's a job there- wonder if Johhny would like a new voice coach who can actually get a realistic accent, and provide competant mouth-to-mouth should he collapse?... :o>

Yes, I noticed that too! But did you notice how much of Hunter S. Thompson went into Jack Sparrow? I'd never thought about how much a sun-mad pirate would have in common with a drug-addled writer, but it makes perfect sense.

Allegedly, Johnny Depp based much of the voice and mannerisms on Keith Richards. Which makes sense to me.

Yeah, I was getting Keef, as well as early Bowie.
