Well. Where's Elizabeth been all week ? Actually, nowhere particularly interesting. She's just been a bit busy, that's all. Then she was a bit ill. But she's better now.
Now, I've gone on record (repeatedly) as saying I don't particularly like surprises. But, actually, I met a rather nice one at the weekend.
Sunday was my birthday, but I was away with my rapper team, dancing. So I wasn't sure if anyone knew if it was my birthday, and didn't particularly expect anyone to mark it. Sunday morning began with my tent demonstrating that peculiar microclimatic ability that I'm sure tents to out of malice:
4am: wake up, too cold.
5am: wake up, too cold.
6am: wake up, too cold.
8.30am: wake, nice and warm.
8:35am: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh, far too hot.
By judicious opening of tent doors, etc, I contrived to reduce the temperature and snooze til getting on for 10. When I finally struggled out, I was greeted by Angi (another member of my team), who ordered me to sit down. "But..."
"Sit down!"
I sat. At a small table, with her, her bloke, and their friends. And they opened a bottle of champagne, wished me happy birthday, and gave me a present.
Nice start to a day.
Apart from that, the festival featured all the usual things, plus the biggest pan of sausages in the world, some very small traction engines, and one of the worst morris teams I've ever seen.
Today would have been a lot more fun without the migraine. I think I'll go back to sleep now.
