Bookkeeping for New Year's Resolutions, July edition.

Sleeping

Last month I noted the existence of a shiny new train in the timetable, the 0817, which would get me to work slightly quicker. I noted that I intended to try and catch it.

Actually, for a lot of July I've been slightly out-of-routine, bodding about to festivals and catching unexpected trains and driving. So I haven't really been on the 0817 much. However, in the last couple of weeks I have suddenly regained the ability to bounce out of bed.

What's most annoying is that I don't feel that this is a result of anything I've done. It's just happened. Not faultlessly, some mornings have still been a struggle. But overall, I feel like I'm doing OK with the sleeping and the getting up just now. I just wish I knew why. Or how to keep doing it.

Writing

Well, some writing has occurred. Not all of it good quality. For the last Writers' Triangle I came up with what I thought was a lovely idea, but sadly had to thump it repeatedly to get it to agree to look like a story. (Disappointingly, one of the other vertices noticed this, and pointed out all the reasons it didn't quite succeed. Which was a fair cop.)

I haven't technically met my resolution criterion, because I haven't sent a thing off to a publisher/magazine/whatever this month. I'd like to have a good excuse but, er... well. I forgot. It's only writing this now that I've remembered that that's what I'm supposed to be doing.

Um. Yes. I say, look over there...

Reading

Having failed spectacularly to actually finish any books from my list in June, I've worked my way through three during July.

By my calculations, this means that I've managed 11 out of the original 25 books in 7 months. I'm pretty sure that means I'm not really on track to finish the list this year. So I need to step on it a bit. What, a moral obligation to spend more time reading, you say?

Oh woe is me :)

Which reminds me, must order more books from the library. Reviews of July's books will be along in a bit.

August: Cold, and dank, and wet. (Brings more rain than any yet!)

One kudo to you, sir.

I was a bit baffled when the answer to my own question was "er, yes, actually".
