The Weather

I do not like the weather.
It is too hot.
It has been too hot for some time now.
And I would like someone to do something about it.

Thank you.

Yes. Yes it is.

I'm thinking of moving to Siberia, where the weather is cold, the black market is ripe and the handcuffs are exotic. Either that or become a restaurateur, simply so I can have a walk-in freezer and sit in it when things get too much.

I've actually been trying to get hold of a cream/beige linen suit all this week, as it seems to be the only sensible elegant attire for this kind of meteorological brutality. Sadly, mens' clothing shops seem to disagree.

I blame Helios. Him and that git Ra.

Brunel were so entirely crap, I didn't even have liquid nitrogen to play with. It felt good to have it trickle down the inside of one's arm.

Sir, you are the last bastion of taste and good sense in these jaded days.

If you find your suit, i will personally scour the junk shops of Britain to provide you with a pith helmet.

Pith-helmets are surprisingly easy to Google for, and can be fairly inexpensive, though not all of them are especially "old-school".

If everyone on your friends list flapped their arms all at once that might generate a nice breeze.

I suspect her friends list is more likely to generate quite a bit of hot air ;-)

Seconded.
Thirded (Bea).

Having got stuck on the M25 yesterday (they'd closed it at Junction 10), and then spending 2 and a bit hours on a Treasure Hunt around London's theaters, you've got it easy...

I vote that we have a thunderstorm. Possibly with some nice wind.

Anyone with me on that?

[identity profile] erming.livejournal.com 2003-08-09 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh,

a thunderstorm sounds lovely. Especially if it comes with a decent serving of rain...

[identity profile] mirabehn.livejournal.com 2003-08-09 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
aaah! Rain!!!

*I would do a rain dance, but it's just tooo hoottt!*

[identity profile] erming.livejournal.com 2003-08-10 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
Someone did, think it was barbedwirekiss, but when I came out of the tube station there was water all over the road and pavements and a lovely fresh smell to the air. Shame it didn't make it any cooler.

[identity profile] mirabehn.livejournal.com 2003-08-10 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
how about a wind dance?

we had quite a fresh breeze out here in the berkshire sticks a couple of hours back, and it certainly made some difference...

[identity profile] erming.livejournal.com 2003-08-10 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll suggest it to him next time I see him.

Orbital mirrors to reflect away excess sunlight, or a giant rocket motor to push us further away from the sun. The former might annoy owners of communication sateillites, and the sloshing caused by the latter might annoy people living on the coast (but not for very long). Not falling into either category I'd be quite willing to help with either plan.

Butterflies

[identity profile] wimble.livejournal.com 2003-08-10 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Hope you spotted the downpour, about 20 minutes ago.

My butterflies were a little delayed, I'm afraid, and have now returned to their cages. (Fly! Fly my pretties!)

It was so hot today that two windows cracked in the morning. :(

And aparantly it was the hottest day in the UK ever, but I missed the worst as I was in air conditioned shops and pubs.

But but...

[identity profile] leathellin.livejournal.com 2003-08-11 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's lovely.
Can't we keep it? ;-)

So long as you keep it a very long way away from me, you're welcome to the bloody stuff :)
