Look, no pulled muscles...
Jul. 30th, 2003 09:20 amPersonal achievement for the week:
Last night I went to a rapper practice, and managed three tumbles (out of three).
A "tumble" consitutes standing between two people, your hands on their shoulders. You then flip over backwards, using them as supports. I was trying to learn to do this a while back, but stopped when I hurt my neck (Note for new readers: neck was hurt in a car crash, nothing to do with the tumbling). I've never really managed it properly before, having been prone to things like getting stuck halfway over (ie upside down), and, er, falling off. I'm still not up to speed, but the theory appears to be there now.
Oh, and...
In the past couple of days, I've had several conversations along these lines:
Me: ChrisC and I are going to see Luke Haines on Thursday.
Them: Who ?
Me: Luke Haines. The guy behind Baader Meinhof and The Auteurs...
Them: Who ?
Me: ... and Black Box Recorder ?
Them: Who ?
However. This notwithstanding, I'm going to see Luke Haines, in St Luke's (the Hawksmoor church taken over by the London Symphony Orchestra), and I'm very excited about it.

Date: 2003-07-30 04:19 am (UTC)That was Luke Haines. Either he has a lot of time on his hands, or can count the number of his fans on 'em.
*canned laughter*
Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week.

Date: 2003-07-30 04:22 am (UTC)Much respect. In my morris days I did a couple of sessions of Rapper, and was worried about cutting my ears off.
Nowadays, of course, I cut my ears off with real swords.
