I am shamelessly earwigging on a conversation between a couple on the train. They were (briefly) arguing about whether a film they saw last year was brilliant, or rubbish.

This is has now been resolved, when one half of the argument realised it had confused Prometheus with Coriolanus :)

Argh, that's a Bowie song and the sound it makes in my head is most like Diamond Dogs but I can't remember which song and now it's really annoying me!

Damn, I realised shortly after posting that I don't know either and was relying on someone else to tell me! I'm pretty sure it's on Hunky Dory (and definitely isn't Diamond Dogs).

Maybe Bewley Brothers, or something like that?

Obviously I could just google for it, but where's the fun in that :)

*sings in head*
Oh, of course it is in Bewlay Brothers but it's "we were" not "I am".

Hmm, it seems your spelling is better than mine. I thought it was "I am"... but then googling for the lyrics, my favourite site gives it (http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/davidbowie/thebewlaybrothers.html) as "he is"!

Mind you, whoever wrote those lyrics thinks it's "Camelian", so either doesn't know what they're talking about, or knows much more than me.

Ok, there is one way to solve this.
*finds mp3 player, undoes squilliontuple knot in headphones*
Yes, it's "he is", it's after the brother dies.

Goddamn I forgot how awesome Bowie is.

I had a smiliar idea, but with YouTube and without the knot in the headphone cable, and I concur that it is "he is".

I had Hunky Dory on when I was wrapping Christmas presents, and concur also that Bowie is awesome.

What is this non-knotting headphone cable of which you speak?

I have large over-ear style headphones at work, and when their regular cable broke I bodged them with a rather industrial-looking cable which is far too thick to knot up when lying on a desk.

My mp3 player headphones are a completely different story, of course :)

7 hours later the damn song is still in my head. I am going to dream of David Bowie frightening small children away and asking me to give him gravy. I hope you're happy!

On the contrary, I'm very sorry! Try the theme from The Muppets, it's pretty good for ousting other earworms (though may result in Muppet earworms instead...)

And was it Prometheus or Coriolanus that was brilliant? I really enjoyed Coriolanus, haven't yet seen Prometheus.

The latter. (He said with some confidence, having only seen the former.)

Correct :)

Prometheus was deemed "rubbish". More specifically, one party didn't see the point of "sitting through two hours of it when you'd had the entire plot explained in the first five minutes".

I have no idea if this is a fair accusation.

It's unfair.

There is no plot.

Probably a good thing they didn't also go and see eg. Tyrannosaurus.

Bahahaha. I saw Prometheus at the cinema and will happily confirm that it's rubbish. Both movies are in my quickflix queue, the first because it's quite pretty despite its rubbishness and I'd like to share that much with [livejournal.com profile] rabbit1080, and the latter because it actually looks good.

I found both to be excellent.

You may peruse my summary of the latter film

I like the summary, but feel I should watch (or at least read) Coriolanus to appreciate it properly :)
