This morning, I have been listening to Taylor Swift singles on YouTube. It is the fault of one of my colleagues, and I do not recommend it. (Though if anyone fancies a laugh, go and watch this video and look out for crazy non-specific-animal guy around 0:57).

However, hjalfi just sent me the link to this, which is excellent:

Most of 2012's big chart hits, compressed into one 8-minute mash-up. It's really remarkably slickly put together. And it constantly has little labels telling you what songs you're listening to. It's brilliant.

Of course, most of 2012's big chart hits were utter shite, but you can't have everything.

I came to the terrible realisation that I did not recognise half of the popular beat combos herein depicted. I am therefore yea close to demanding my statutory Steradent and Werthers!

Hey, if you recognised half of them you were way ahead of me! I spotted a few songs I knew well, a few artists I could recognise by sight but where I wasn't sure of the song, and a few hooks that sounded a bit familiar. But I do fear that I must have had my head in a bucket for most of the year.

Steradent and Werthers does sound a particularly lethal and unpleasant cocktail, I don't think I will be demanding mine!

The "making of" blog post was quite informative as to how it was done, and he did say there were a number of songs missed out as they didn't fit.

That was good. In the same vein, had you seen this? (The take on that Taylor Swift* song is priceless.)



*That said, I rather like some of Swift's other songs. She puts together a few good lyrics, albeit not in that song.
