For those who really wanted to go for extra credit, the subject line and cut-text that I used were:

The theme, for those who didn't get it, was that all those songs have titles which don't appear anywhere in the lyrics. I figured that would make it much harder to name the songs (it seemed to).


The run-away winner is (as ever) bopeepsheep with a whopping 20 points. For those who feel a bit daunted by that, the median score was 5.5 and the mean was 6.8[*]. Bopeepsheep is, in the nicest possible way, an outlier. Runner up prizes to phlebas and valkyriekaren (both on 14) and an honourable mention to kauket (13).

Also worthy of note are d_floorlandmine, with the most entertaining answers (including getting two answers wrong, but by the correct band and also fitting the theme...) and sammason, who gets the SamMason Award for being SamMason in a lyrics quiz (as negotiated, see comments).

Of course, by my own standards I lose, too :) My idea of a successful quiz is one where every question is answered by at least one person... and I failed. No one spotted 14 (Less Than Jake) or 21 (Interpol) (zotz, I was relying on you for 21). Also thanks to mr_tom and Bopeepsheep, without whom there'd have been four unanswered. The most-correctly-answered question was Bohemian Rhapsody, narrowly beating Tubthumping.

*blimey* Yes, a bit of an outlier. I tend to have a good memory for lyrics but it helps a good deal that you and I have broadly similar tastes much of the time!

I have to admit I have never heard of either 14 or 21, and Queens of the Stone Age have largely passed me by. I should really rectify that at some point, since they turn up often in RL and online quizzes...

Aha. I do indeed like Ben Folds, but wouldn't be enough of a fan to feel bad about not getting that one. In fact I don't feel properly bad about any of the ones I didn't get, so am content. And boggling a bit at bopeepsheep's 20.

Sorry, I wasn't intending to make you feel bad! Just surprised, because in my head you are a big fan of Ben Folds Five. Odd stuff happens in my head :)
