Testing, testing...

FAO [livejournal.com profile] sammason, everyone else please ignore...

Suppose I were to pose this question to you:

Have you ever tickled an ocelot?

If you click on the button, does it do what you're wanting?

[identity profile] sushidog.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it does what it's supposed it. What I _want_ it to do is take care of the presentation I'm trying to write and the marking that I have to do after that, make me a cup of coffee, and give me permission to go home and do a bit of dressmaking prior to a nice early night, and it doesn't do that.

[identity profile] sushidog.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
(Sorry, I am not [livejournal.com profile] sammason and should therefore have ignored your post. I shall now start ignoring it.)

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly! Now if you'd asked me to create a button that did what you wanted, clicking it would have done all of those things (and sung three choruses of the National Anthem - bugs are inevitable).

However, you can't ask for a button, because you're ignoring this post.

[identity profile] sushidog.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Dammit, if only I weren't ignoring this post!

I'm not ignoring this post, and my button requirements are very similar to [livejournal.com profile] sushidog's (this is perhaps not a surprise). I'd like tea instead of coffee, and knitting instead of sewing, and my marking won't actually arrive until Friday, but I'd like it done now anyway. I have no amendments to the presentation-writing, though. Can you make a button for me?

<whistles through teeth>
All that stuff and time travel?
Dunno about that - it's not the labour, it's the parts...

[identity profile] tigerfort.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
The great thing with time-travel, though, is that you don't have to have the parts now. So long as you'll get your hands on them eventually, you can still do the job!

[identity profile] pseudomonas.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not how you titillate an ocelot!

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, hey, we'll have none of that filth on here!

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, go on then, maybe just a little!

[identity profile] sammason.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
{sigh} I asked a perfectly sensible question and now look.

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Sadly, I didn't :(

[identity profile] feanelwa.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
If we are requesting buttons I would like one that gets the little bit of steak out of between my teeth where neither floss nor fingernail nor any other tool can remove it. It is driving me crazy.

Venta's Test Question

User [livejournal.com profile] bateleur referenced to your post from Venta's Test Question (http://bateleur.livejournal.com/360479.html) saying: [...] Originally posted by at Testing, testing... [...]

If we're debugging, after I tried clicking on it myself, something has marked every single link on LJ as being one I've already followed. (Using Firefox 9.0.1 on Win7)

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2012-03-20 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
It's a built-in LJ mechanism, so I don't think I can do much in the way of debugging of it :(

That didn't happen to me (Firefox 10.0.2 on Win XP)

[identity profile] undyingking.livejournal.com 2012-03-20 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
I was wondering if you'd get a pingback appearing here for everyone who did so. That might be nice.

And also: what's the code for creating such a button? I'm lazily asking you rather than looking for myself, on the assupmtion that it'll be fresh in your mind…

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2012-03-20 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently not - as far as I'm aware, three people have answered it and I've got only one pingback.

The code is covered in the LJ FAQ #313 (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=313), and to create the above I did:

<lj-repost button="Answer in your own journal">Have you ever tickled an ocelot?</lj-repost>

[identity profile] undyingking.livejournal.com 2012-03-20 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, ta. Now to think of a fun use for it…
