Can't get you out of my head
Oct. 7th, 2009 10:29 amI've heard lots of people grumbling about the online game Evony's rather suspicious adverts, in which scantily clad women encourage you to "Play Now, my Lord".
I've not yet heard anyone making my complaint, which is that the bloody ubiquitous things leave me nearly every day singing to myself.
"Evony and Ibory, live together in perfect harmony..."
The last thing I near is an earworm with a speech impediment :(

Date: 2009-10-07 10:34 am (UTC)We need to meet up for at least a pint, if not actual food, sometime soon before everything starts going manic for Christmas. Suggestions as to when/where if you're interested?

Date: 2009-10-07 10:58 am (UTC)I don't really see the Evony ones, I just find myself humming...
I also fear that some sites I use (like, I dunno, Yahoo! groups) possibly rely on ads for funding. If everyone blocks ads, no one clicks, and the site closes due to lack of funding.
OK, so I doubt me running AdBlock will bring Yahoo! down, but I feel I ought to click occasionally on principal if I'm using a free service.

Date: 2009-10-12 09:05 pm (UTC)I made the same mistake once and decried the website of a law firm as being completely unnavagable until it was pointed out that the 'advert' I had dismissed in the middle of the page was actually the thing I was after.

Date: 2009-10-07 11:01 am (UTC)Anything that advertises itself with 'play discretely at work' makes me giggle too, it's almost a shame no-one here is dumb enough to try it and I won't get to see the look on their face when they realise we're about to lart them into next week.

Date: 2009-10-07 03:51 pm (UTC)I thought I'd got around the issue by NOT PLAYING ANYMORE, but clearly I hadn't seen you coming :-P
