So... Glastonbury. Anyone going ? Anyone fancy meeting up ? Anyone got any recommendations of things I should particularly make an effort to see while I'm there ?

I'm going & would be lovely to randomly bump into you for the first time since . . . well, whenever I last randomly bumped into you! I'm fairly scarce on things I'm burning to see though, to be honest; I do like the Rakes, who are thrashy-guitared indie with arch lyrics and a peculiarly angular frontman, if that's your kinda thing . . .

Ooh, yes, would be lovely to see you.

I have in the past discovered three different strategies for meeting people at festivals... they are:

(a) rely on randomly bumping into people. Doomed.
(b) rely on arranging things by mobile phone. Mostly doomed.
(c) prearrange an innocuous time to meet at a prearranged destination. Reasonably successful, but requires organisation, hence also mildly doomed.

If you wish to risk (b) or (c), then I don't have a phone number for you but I can be reached at venta at livejournal if you wish to swap. I'll be there from Wednesday night. If you fancy agreeing a time/destination for consumption of tea/cider then suggest one :)

I don't think I've got any burning-to-sees this year either, though I'm looking forward to the Broken Family Band.

Yeah, I'm going down on Thursday morning (campervan, natch). Need a lift? :-)

No firm idea of what I'll be going to see yet, but I will most likely be in the Jazzworld field on Thursday evening. ;-)

ETAAnd it'd be cool to meet you, if you're interested, as I'm feeling a bit lonesome this year, no-one I know is going, after a few years of driving down with several friends in the van...

I'm OK for a lift thanks... aren't you starting from somewhere completely different from me anyway !?

I'm terribly at recognising people from photos, so have virtually zero chance of working out it's you if I bump into you anywhere. I can certainly take a wander round the Jazzworld field on Thursday evening, but might need a bit more of a clue :)

Oooh... Jazzworld, you say... Grand Bouffe for dinner ?

I'll be leaving from Oxford - I thought you were in Oxford too, or did I make that up?

Me too. Which doesn't bode well. Hmm. Last year, I looked something like this (http://www.larted.org.uk/~dom/photos/web/medium/n95/200806/200806a0/20080627082.jpg). Hopefully without the wellies and waterproofs this year ;-) but I'll most likely be wearing that hat. Just ask everyone if they're Art and you'll be fine...

Grand what? Is this something I've managed to miss out on all this time - or perhaps I've just forgotten the name. Anyhow, a place and a plan might be a good idea. Grande Bouffe, 6-7ish suit you?

Er... oh. I thought you lived in Cambridge. I guess I did make that up. I do live in Oxford.

Grand what?

Le Grand Bouffe is pretty much my favourite eatery at Glastonbury - it does sausages casseroled in wine, and fantastic tartiflette. If you're a vegetarian you'll probably have given it a miss, otherwise you really should try it out. I'm sure it's in Jazzworld, but I'll have to check with my navigational advisor. 6-7ish sounds good to me.

Greenpeace's Climate Rescue Station is there, and apparently people like it lots. If you see it, do let me know what you think of it. It's a big two story high globe. Presumably on the Green Field.
