Futons are evil
May. 21st, 2003 01:20 amAndy and I have just dismantled a futon and put it in the attic. Well, tried to put it in the attic - even with its base dismantled, the sections won't fit through the hatch (so on to plan B, there).
But... futon mattresses. This one had two, for various reasons. Laid out flat on a wooden base, they're lovely. But as soon as you try to move one, it becomes apparent that a futon mattress is the single most unwieldy, awkward, heavy and unbiddable item in the universe.
We eventually cowed them by rolling them into fat sausages, tied with string, and sliding bin liners on to either end. Then Andy stood on the landing and pushed the rolls end-on up through the hatch, with me in the attic catching.
You have no idea how many bad jokes can be made about this whole process. Really. You think you know, but you don't.
This evening we also changed the location of one single bed, one double bed, one computer desk, one normal desk, a bookcase... it's all excitement round here.
Oh, and I went to a rapper practice this evening as well. At long last we're up to strength again, and now have 6 dancers locally.. yay.
Tired now.

Enquiring minds want to know... ;)

Date: 2003-05-21 11:34 am (UTC)At present: Andy has Bed A, I have Bed B, you have just sold us Bed C.
I've called dibs on Bed C, because it has storage space underneath which neither A nor B do.
Andy wants a bed with a harder mattress than A's, which means he can have Bed B when I've got Bed C.
We are now a bed over the odds, but we're keeping all three until Andy finds out whether he's going to be living in a furnished or unfurnished room in Cambridge.
So for now, I'm in Bed B, Andy's in Bed A, and Bed C is in the wings as it's the only one which comes to pieces for storage.
Clear ?
Enquiring minds are indeed disappointed...
