The briefest of reviews presented in the form of an awards ceremony:
I should like to offer awards in the following categories...
Good-time music: Rezurex (despite the silly name). Feelgood zombie rock'n'roll. With a double bass.
Forgettability: Christians Death. "There's some bloke on stage, mumbling!" I complained to Greg[*]. "Yes," he said, "that's what Christian Death sound like."
Controversially appearing to have fun on stage: Specimen. They're not dead yet.
The Rogue award for services to hairstyles: Specimen's keyboard player.
Runaway success: Voltaire. Second on the bill and playing to the largest audience I've seen at Whitby in a while.
Life-sucking tedium: Wayne Hussey. And he was on stage for about a week.
Serious bastard coldness: the weather on Friday.
And for individuals...
Long-running quality flatmate award: shared between
davefish and
keris.
Seriously ill-advised clothing:
naranek. Deliberately, fortunately. I hope there are no photos.
Comedy genius:
tukie for waving his arms about on Saturday morning in a sufficiently humorous manner that it still made me giggle when I thought of it last night.
[*] Note for Oxgoths: Greg. He still exists.
