So, I noticed when getting my breakfast ready this morning that we're low on milk. Not a problem... because we have milk left on our doorstep for us three days a week.

Except it wasn't there :( Either the milkman forgot us, or some thieving bastard pinched it. Or the bluetits round here have got seriously organised.

However, the good thing is that it finally reminded me to look on YouTube to see if the following was available. It was, which has made me happy.

Hmm. Can you remember when this was first aired ? Without wishing to sound patronising (or ancient), I don't think I'd have expected you to remember it. Thought it was quite early 80s.

I think it was later than that. The milk bottles were computer generated. I'd put it late 80s or even early 90s. Brought a smile to my face, though!

...and going to the youtube link, it says early 90s, too.

So it does. I wonder how I managed to miss that. Or, since I thought it said somewhere on that page that it was 80s (which it doesn't) maybe I misread it. Thank you for solving the date problem, anyway :)

*17* years? Argh. That ad is almost old enough to go to university!

While we're at it, here's the Accrington Stanley (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pieK7b4KLL4) kid:

Nice story :)

I preferred the dancing bottles ad, but clearly remember when you could barely pick up milk without being threatened with having to play for Accrington Stanley.

I've never seen those before. Was it ever explained what the Humphreys were or where they came from ? Admittedly, I didn't hear anyone pinching our milk last night so it might have been a Humphrey.

Just watching those adverts in isolation makes for a somewhat odd ad campaign - though no more odd than the "I Hate Marmite" ads of a few years back.

No, they remained a mystery (wrapped in an enigma etc). Maybe someone at Unigate knows, but if so they aren't telling. Or perhaps one of the many celebrities featured (there were a lot more ads than those) can reveal, if any of them are still around.

They put out a load of merchandise associated with it, stickers, pencil-cases and so on. Sadly we got our milk from the Coop, so I never had any of this tat.

There was a kid at school who got the nickname Humphrey because he was very fond of the milk we got given at morning break-time. What was his name, Jeremy something?
