Having not lived at home for nearly nine years now, I've more or less forgotten what living with cats is like.

Things I'd forgotten:

How much more difficult it is to skin chicken legs when there are two furry menaces who very much want to "help".

How tricky it is to make a cat understand that you don't want it to sit on you - since I developed severe Cat Allergy, I don't want them near me (well, at any rate, I don't want the attendant sneezing, eyes stinging and lumpy skin). Since I like cats, repeatedly pushing them away makes me feel guilty :(

What a surprising range of noises cats can make. Particularly when throwing up. (Still, at least she chose a room that has a wooden floor rather than a carpet).

How disconcerting it is when a cat becomes instantaneously terrififed of a patch of empty space. Probably just our house poltergeist on his rounds again, but even so...

Irrelevantly: anyone know where my mother has hidden the turmeric ?

Update: Many thanks for the help with this... just to set your minds at rest, it was eventually located at the back of the shelf, in a box rather than a jar, which had slipped over sideways and hid itself behind the taller jars. Thus [livejournal.com profile] lanfykins was more or less correct, since one cupboard contains all the herbs and spices. [livejournal.com profile] condign should practise his pyschic skills a little more, since he directed me to the tea-towel rail.

The cat seems to be fine now, too.

..on the shelves on the right hand side of the kitchen, to the right and above the sink.

Just my guess, I'm bored. :)

Naah, you're wrong...

It's in the same cupboard as the cinnamon sticks, but at the back.

Definitely ;)

Isn't that to the right and above the sink? (I consider cupboards and shelves to be the same thing.)

It always reminds me of someone massaging a half filled hot water bottle. (no I have not tried this)

One of ours announces she is going to throw up by yodelling. This is even more disconcerting than the throwing up, but at least it gives us several seconds of warning and time (usually) to fling her out into the garden.

Surely it's the stash your mother should be hiding?

I had another thought.

Maybe your mother has hidden the turmeric in the cat?
