Why do I have to work so hard?
Apr. 4th, 2003 10:00 amWhy is it that what Mo always called "Life Admin" takes so damn long? I've spent a hefty chunk of the past two evenings doing really dull stuff like tidying, filing, writing letters, paying bills, doing washing...
And there's still lots left to do. The holiday photo website didn't get a look in :(
One of my many tasks was putting leather balm on my trenchcoat to generally look after it. You smear this stuff on with your hands - then go to wash it off and remember the wretched goop is waterproof. As a result, I'm carrying a faint perfume of boot polish around with me this morning; I'm sure it'll be all the rage soon.
I know April is a bit late to remember to bring a calendar into work, but I kept forgetting :)
At Christmas I was given a Zobmondo! calendar (no, I didn't know either - it seems to be based on a board game). Every day, it presents a dilemma ("would you rather do A, or B"), and a relevant fact or stat, which is "a sure fire way to promote lively thinking and debate, especially among friends or coworkers".
Well, yesterday's:
Would you rather
Have a job you love but a boss who hates you
OR
A mother-in-law who hates you?
completely failed to do anything of the sort. I don't hold out much hope for today's either:
Would you rather
Throw the first pitch at the 7th game of the World Series
OR
Get $3,000 in cash?
I'm sure we could do better than that :)
