You. Yes, you! Have you ever, to the best of your knowledge, ever played Dixit with me?

At the weekend I was visiting friends. They proposed, in the evening, that we played Dixit which one of them had acquired for Christmas. We read through the rules quickly, and it didn't seem difficult. It also didn't seem in the least bit familiar.

Tokens were popped out of their pristine sheets, cards were de-cellophaned and dealt, I looked at my hand and immediately thought: I've played this before. I don't remember the game, as such, but I remember the beautiful, whimsical illustrations.

Now, I play boardgames pretty rarely these days. And it's a moderately recent game. My first thought was that perhaps maviscruet introduced me to it last year, but I foresightedly wrote down what games I'd played then. It wasn't on the list. Similarly with ebee's epic gaming party last year. (I omitted to write about her party this year, it seems, but it was sufficiently recent that I can actually use real memory to recall it.)

This is obviously not in the least important. And I doubt whether - even if it was you - you're likely to remember specifically. But it's bothering me.

In related news, does anyone have an opinion on Dixit?
