One of the empty shops upwind of The Magdalen Arms on Iffley Road seems to be turning into a real place again. Although it's still at the paint-pots and ladders stage presently, its very slightly uneven red lettering proclaims that it is soon to be a Global Deli. The fascia proudly announces it will sell:
Organic Fair Trade Local
Now, if we leave aside wondering how (b) and (c) correlate there - I'm not aware of systematic oppression and underpayment of Cotswold produce merchants, but maybe that's my ignorance - I think this sounds like a good thing. A global deli for local foodstuffs on my doorstep. Everyone should patronise it. Further reports from the field as and when it opens.
