One of the empty shops upwind of The Magdalen Arms on Iffley Road seems to be turning into a real place again. Although it's still at the paint-pots and ladders stage presently, its very slightly uneven red lettering proclaims that it is soon to be a Global Deli. The fascia proudly announces it will sell:

Now, if we leave aside wondering how (b) and (c) correlate there - I'm not aware of systematic oppression and underpayment of Cotswold produce merchants, but maybe that's my ignorance - I think this sounds like a good thing. A global deli for local foodstuffs on my doorstep. Everyone should patronise it. Further reports from the field as and when it opens.

Actually, in view of the current parlous state of farming in the UK, and DEFRA's inability to find its bum with both hands and a map, I fear the concept of Fair Traded goods from UK farmers may not be too far distant.
