Oh just twenty thousand people standing in a field

For busyness and incompetence reasons, I've left this a bit late, but...

Is anyone going to Glastonbury ? I know about [livejournal.com profile] lnr, [livejournal.com profile] addedentry and [livejournal.com profile] j4. Anyone else ?

If anyone's interested in attempting to meet up and have a celebratory half of ginger beer or similar, they should drop me a line.

I'd be interested to know if anyone's evolved a funky meeting-up-strategy, too. Any landmark (that you can guess in advance) which is meetable-by becomes useless because of all the people meeting by it. And sms doesn't work - or at least it didn't last year - owing to network-overcrowding, and frankly phoning is pretty stuffed too.

Oh, and if anyone knows what the hell has happened to my tent-peg mallet, I'd like to know that too. I lent it to [livejournal.com profile] secutatrix so she could hit her harp with it. I know she gave it me back, but what on earth I did with it is a complete mystery.

I may be way off mark, but that email address looks like it might have too many l's in it.

Damn you! That was my strategy for not having to be sociable and meet up with anybody. I've had to fix it now :(

;)

Oops. >slinks off, sheepishly<

;-)

You put it somewhere sensible but then some mates of the harp came around, bundled it into a car and sped off. They spent the next couple of hours beating it up, and then dumped it in a ditch about 10 miles from Heathrow. It was picked up by a kind and beautiful stranger who nursed it back to health. Curiously she couldn't speak English, but they eventually managed to understand one another. The mallet went with her back to her home country of Russia, where it turned out that she was part of the Russian mafia and he's been trained in martial arts and is now an up and coming hit-man.

I pity the harp and its mates, they won't know what hit them.

It would be lovely. Phone (number in recent post) worked OK for me last year (am on Orange, is good) but if you're stuck you could try wandering towards this bit of field:

and shouting :-)

I found one or other of the speaker pyramids at the main stage (specify in front or behind, and whether you mean left facing stage or looking away from it :-) were quite good. But we did tend to rely on phones to give a vague time for being there.

Oh and you promised [livejournal.com profile] mpinna a pint :-)

Aye, I've not forgotten that! I just need to be in the same place as him. And, er, have someone else handy to tell one or other of us that we're in the same place :)

I think if he sees *anyone* with long brown hair in little plaits, he should immediately corner them and demand beer. Or cider. Or whatever.

Found your number, and added mine to your poll.

try wandering towards this bit of field

Ah, ok. I'll try that. I may wave one arm a bit too, just to make myself extra-noticeable.

Ta, and good luck finding us. I have Jan's number if you want it, and I'll introduce you to Mike.

half of ginger beer

Which is equivalent to 0.15 lashings.

[identity profile] wimble.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Thus a lashing is 3 1/3 pints. Which is just shy of 1.9 litres, according to google.

Curiously, they don't recognise the lashing as a unit of measure. And neither does Wikipedia. Which has a really boring page about ginger beer.
