Dear Met Office,

If I wanted to be too hot at 8am, I wouldn't live in Britain. Please return us to our usual climate ASAP.

Thanks,

Liz

(And before anyone complains, no I don't usuallly grumble about the cold in the winter. Too cold is much better than too hot.)

It's so refreshing to find someone else who prefers "too cold" to "too hot".

As all right-thinking people do.

There are solutions for too-coldness, involving electric blankets and hot water bottles and added duvets.

Unfortunately, once you're lying panting on the bed while the fan whirs a breeze of warm air over your body you've pretty much reached the limit of what you can do about the heat.

Air conditioning. We'll be needing a lot of it in this country soon, I suspect.

Expensive, though. And not very environmentally friendly :)

Have you tried trepanning?

The trick is to try it on someone else first.

you mean there are people out there who don't ?
warming up is so much easier than cooling down.

Call me a freak, but I quite like it being hot...

Freak! Just goes to show what Team Ana are like.

Actually, I ought to prefer the heat myself, on the grounds that I freeze very easily (no insulation) and find it very hard to get warm again (no circulation). I have no such difficulties with heat.

Nevertheless I suspect I do prefer the cold.

Yes. We signed-up to be northern Europeans damnit, if we wanted hot weather we'd be Moroccan.

The heat has many drawbacks, but I have to say I feel it makes it easier to get up in the morning. Nothing sucks quite so miserably as dragging yourself out of a cosy warm bed into the freezing cold of the early morning - at least in summer it's warm to warm. :)

I'm planning on a nice snooze in this air-conditioned office to make up for the complete lack of sleep last night.

It's too bleeding 'ot, dammit!

England's finest weather: crisp sunny days in December.

Only if you stop whining about the cold in winter!

Hmm. I dunno.

We'd have to have some kind of impartial whine-arbiter to make sure that we got equal amounts of whining in.

Aha - that answers the email I was just sending you. Just wanted to know your whereabouts to work out whether to cancel Thursday's milk and such. Thanks for doing the bins.

I've been ever so good

Hmm. That seems pretty unlikely to me. You got witnesses?

Will leave them somewhere obvious. Sorry I forgot the other day.

I'm English doncha know. Therefore I like the temperature to be bland - neither cold nor hot.
