It's Friday! It's about three o'clock! It's time to Boogie At Your Desk!

Friday afternoons need a little something. I think they need a Top Tune. Something to make you shuffle in your seat and, if possible, Boogie At Your Desk. I'll be endeavouring to fill this gap some Fridays this year.

I'm not claiming that any track provided to enable At-Desk Boogying is one of the world's best or most profound pieces of music. It will, however, be one of the tunes which make me smile, and which have at some stage made me surreptitiously Boogie At My Desk.

Desks are not compulsory, of course. Feel free to boogie through your office, in your bedroom, round your lab, across your classroom, on the train - wherever you find yourself on a Friday afternoon.

If you like the track, go out and buy the album it belongs to - I'll try and recommend a suitable CD to purchase for any BAYD track.

This link will expire at some point in the future.

Today you are invited to Boogie At Your Desk to:

4ft Fingers - Busted

I encountered the 4ft Fingers supporting The Damned a year or two ago, and despite me getting into a dispute with their singer (on the merch stall afterwards) about whether you're allowed to be a punk band if you come from Cheltenham, they rock mightily.

Busted has extremely silly lyrics (and, indeed, if you're liable to be offended by lines like "Boobs! Tits! Jugs! Breasts!" you should probably give it a miss), but is worth it for the fantastic bass solos it contains[*].

4ft Fingers would just be another fairly competent shouty-tuneful bloke's punk outfit were it not for their bass player. He is rather small and bouncy, as I recall, and clearly wants to be Matt Freeman when he grows up[**]. And he's great, bless'im.

I bought both the albums they were offering at the time; of the two I'd recommend From Hero To Zero. Bung it on in the car, wind the windows down, and drive around the country in the sunshine.

Anyone who wishes to disagree with me about music should bear in mind that I am very wise. The gap left last year when the dentist took my upper right wisdom tooth out (and on my sodding birthday, too!) will shortly cease to be, as I have a new wisdom tooth growing in its place to bring the total back up to four. This means that I am not only ultra cool because I have extra teeth, but am also possessed of great wisdom.

[*] [livejournal.com profile] failmaster, if you're reading, I'd be interested to hear your opinion of it.
[**] Which reminds me, we should probably boogie at desks to Rancid one of these weeks.

For a wonderful moment I thought you were inviting us to Boogie to Busted... not to a song called Busted.

Damnit - whatever happened to catering to the lowest common denominator? (er, me) :P

Eek!Do you grow extra teeth deliberately for the extra wisdom it bestows? :)

I only ever grew three wisdom teeth ... So by your dentist's reckoning I'm probably as daft as a brush ... Although mine said only having three meant I was a super-evolved being *lol*

Um ... Don't think I'd *dare* disagree with you on music ;-)

Oh, extra teeth don't bestow wisdom in and of themselves. They're just, you know, indicators of pre-existing wisdom levels.

Don't think I'd *dare* disagree with you on music

Hurray! That's the sort of cowering I like to see from my subjects readers.

Well clearly your not as wise as you once were...

Once you were incredibly wise, now your only wise :-)

Dread to think what I am as I think I had 4 teeth pulled for authodentistry.
