Genius!

I'm eating a Boots' "Sausage, egg and bacon" sarnie. Which contains sliced sausage, bacon, egg mayonnaise and tomato salsa. The clever bit ?

Baked bean flavoured bread

Now if anyone can work out how to get black pudding in there too, I'll be a happy person.

Does "baked bean flavoured" mean "tomato sauce flavoured", or does it actually have actual beans in the actual bread?

No beans appear to have been harmed in the making of the bread, but it is at least tomato-sauce-which-tastes-like-that-you-find-round-beans, as distinct from, say, ketchup.

I suspect there is a very easy way of making it taste like black pudding; i also suspect it's banned by some European law.

Er, am I right in thinking you're vegetarian ?

If so, I refuse to accept suggestions about black pudding from you, as they'll probably be nasty ;)

Why does the bread have to taste of black pudding - would it be sufficient to, like, put some black pudding in the sandwich?

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2003-01-16 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
Well, in my case I try not to put too many things into sandwiches as my jaw's a bit rubbish and won't open far enough to let me eat big tall sarnies easily.

John R and I were considering the addition of blackpudding-and-mushroom paté to the sandwich, though.

You could puree the black puddings along with the baked beans to add into the bread mix (I have a food mixer and a bread maker if you want to experiment sometime).

Cut yourself and bleed over the sandwich for a bit to provide that authentic blood taste.

Yes I know theres more to black pudding than this, but can't think of anything else.

Stripey sausages

Someone should use the toothpaste machines to make sausages which contain both normal pork and black pudding. Possibly dyed red and blue.

Those are indeed incredibly yummy. Especially when it's lunchtime and you've been too busy to have breakfast.

Breakfast-related question: black pudding is all very well, but white pudding (Irish staple) seems very rare over here. I wonder why? Or am I just looking in the wrong places?

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2003-01-17 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
I've hardly ever seen it.

I believe [livejournal.com profile] davefish found a source of it at one point...
