And, much as I hate to suggest that there's anything interesting in Middlesbrough, the Transporter Bridge" (http://www.nhi.clara.net/oldy017.htm) does kind of sail a bit.

I can't find a better photo, sadly. And a few online articles about the bridge suggest that the moving platform part is 160ft up or something. Which I'm sure is wrong, I think it "floats" on the river (jiggery_pokery, any offers?)

Chicago, as I've been known to say, has fifty moveable bridges. Fifty! Most tilt, some swivel and I think a couple rise, but few actually sail.
