When you come back home
Sep. 1st, 2004 11:17 amI'm back now.
Since it's the end of the summer, LJ has already been plagued with thousands of variations of "What I Did On My Holidays", so I won't add another. You know the sort of thing: I went away, I spent some afternoons in a Scout Hall learning 18th Century dances, I helped a professional artist build sandcastles, at one point I sat in a tiny pub back room in a tiny Yorkshire village listening to around 20 of folk music's top performers try to sing different songs all at once. Run of the mill holiday stuff.
I'm not intending to read back on the fornight's worth of posts I've missed: if you've been called up, sold up or blown up and want me to know about it, either mail me or point me to the relevant journal entry.
Today's piece of advice: if someone suggests you celebrate your birthday by having a wisdom tooth extracted, you should politely decline.

Date: 2004-09-01 03:43 am (UTC)On the other hand, refusing to let the dentist take my tooth out just because it's my birthday (thus, since my dentist is in Darlington, meaning it probably had to come out at Christmas) actually smacks of more idiocy. Or should that be ijiiiiicy ?

Er, it just seemed like a good idea at the time :) She's a friend of mine, and we decided sandcastles needed to be built. So she directed operations while her bloke (who's a carpenter), Samantha and I did the grunt work of moving the sand around.

No, she let us use spades.

Date: 2004-09-01 10:10 am (UTC)Thats a fairly sensible approach to creating artwork. And indeed sandcastles. It was very forward thinking of her to let you use spades, but think of the side effects, you'll be damaging yourself with sharp teeth because you haven't worn them down gnawing on sand. Spades, I tell you, it'll all end in tragedy.
