I've fallen in love with a photograph

Well, back by popular request, it's another...

Photo Challenge.

Details: http://www.eastwick.fsnet.co.uk/photo2.html

Please pass on to anyone else you think might be interested.

You've got two months to faff, find your camera, get it working, take some photos, and shove 'em on a web page somewhere. If anyone is vaguely interested, slightly forgetful, or would for some other reason like me to prod them with sticks intermittently to make them take pictures, please leave a comment below.

[livejournal.com profile] surje, if you're still up for suggesting some ideas for displaying/formatting the entries, please shout up. There should, I'd imagine, be less of a requirement to compare different people's photos directly this time, but I'd still be interested to hear if you have any thoughts on how they should be displayed.

And yes, I know some people haven't received their prizes from the last one. This is because I'm faintly crap, and should be resolved in the moderately immediate future. Unless you're [livejournal.com profile] nalsa, in which case it won't because you never told me your address :)

I'm upferrit - and probably using a better camera than my recent phone efforts.

I'll probably need intermittent prodding so pop me on the list for that also :-)

Ok. Anyone who wants to enter must email me (email in userinfo). I will then create a sub-folder here. Maximum of 8 pics per folder, maximum of 1 Meg total per folder (so make each picture about 110 Kb, up to you what image size / compression). You can add pics one at a time if you like, or all at once (easiest to add a single zip file if you want to add lots at once). I will monitor content and remove inappropriate ones (i.e. illegal) and ones that do not match the rules.

Blimey, there's efficiency :)

How will the transfer be effected, is it an ftp thing ?

Thanks.

um, you click on "add photos". then it's an http upload. takes individual jpgs or a zip file. if anyone messes around then i'll create user accounts and make it protected, but i think we can trust people to start with.

Er, oh yes. Didn't look closely enough at the page you pointed at. I wouldn't expect logins to be necessary either.

I know some people were obliged, cos of the photo-y stuff they do, to add © statements to their pics, but I'm presuming that can be done via captiony sorts of things ?

[identity profile] surje.livejournal.com 2004-03-01 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
ok, i've changed it so that captions can be edited by anybody.

[identity profile] surje.livejournal.com 2004-03-01 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
pleasure!

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-03-01 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
H'ok, I've now updated the page giving the rules to include this bit as well.

And chalked up a couple of pints on my mental tick-slate for you ;)

[identity profile] surje.livejournal.com 2004-03-02 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
a favour - could you replace the "@" sign in my email address with " at " ... trying to avoid spam... thanks! :)

One form of transport which is clearly not in use/incapable of going anywhere.

You do this a fortnight after [livejournal.com profile] wimble disposes of the Frenkencar, bah.

[identity profile] wimble.livejournal.com 2004-03-02 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oi! It clearly went. And is now, clearly gone.

[identity profile] wimble.livejournal.com 2004-03-02 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Lousy timing, haven't you? See, there I am, all out of the country, like, and completely unable to read this.

So you're not getting Peruvian transport systems.

Do I get bonus points if they're llama powered?

Your current theme covers one of my favourite photographs, which was taken by the great O Winston Link. Unfortunately, the web copies I've found don't really do I justice, but I found Hot Shot Eastbound, Iaeger.

I think this may be the only photograph to be parodied on The Simpsons. :)

"Hot Shot Eastbound, Iaeger" is excellent. I was reminded of this kind of think when driving along the A34 the other day - from a flyover you can see, next to each other and running in parallel, a canal, rail-line and road.

Of course, stopping and taking a photo on a flyover on the A34 will be more easily said than done...

more easily said than done

One has to suffer for one's art :)

I'd not seen that photo before Zandev posted it, but I like it a lot, too.

Suffer - yes. Get mown down by artic - not so tempting ;-)

Tell you what - let's make a plan of it. You drive, break down, stick on the "park anywhere lights", block the traffic, smile sweetly at irate drivers while shugging your shoulders; then while we wait for the AA to arrive I'll snap away.
