Need more spinach

Rats. Trotted off to Blood Donors again with [livejournal.com profile] pm215 and Sysadmin #1. And my Haemo Goblins still haven't come back.

According to the more accurate tests they did last time, I'm not seriously low on Goblins, I just don't meet the requirements for blood doning. So no health worries, which is good, merely a little bit of annoyance, and a nagging feeling that I'm letting the rest of the community down.

Still. Today was pig roast day in Woodley. Mmm. Roast pig. Inna bun. And I crunched crackling all the way back to work, causing [livejournal.com profile] grumblesmurf to enquire whether I was eating my own teeth.

The pig roast is in the context of a Farmers' Market, and to my great disappointment the Apple Juice Man wasn't there today. I've been buying large bottles of pressed apple juice for the past few months - named breeds of apple, and some of them come with added ginger. Actually, no, some of them come with added GINGER. I was bemoaning his absence, when the Nice Cheese Man pointed out that, what with these things being locally grown and all, apples are out of season now.

Y'know, I just hadn't thought of that. Sure, I know apples don't grow in February in the UK. But too much shopping at supermarkets has mostly insulated me from the action of the seasons, and I forget that such things are relevant. One black mark to me.

Otherly, Amazon finally got round to delivering me my copy of Franz Ferdinand. Which I would review, but frankly, I don't think I can beat [livejournal.com profile] addedentry's snappily phrased and entirely accurate one-liner. Followers of the last thread will no doubt be relieved to hear that I knew the album was on the way so left space for it, and the P and the S that came with it, on my newly-ordered shelves.

Our local farmers market also has roast big, and crackling, and it's very nice.

However we don't have 'apple juice man' and that makes me sad.

Another favourite is Quality Tart Man - fruit tarts of many and varied exciting kinds. And utterly lovely almond tarts.

If it's quality pies you want (fruit or savoury) then may I recommend Lime Tree Pantry? We see them at craft fairs from time to time and stock up the freezer, but they appear to sell at quite a few places (including the web: http://www.limetreepantry.com/). I like a pie, and they make some fine ones.
