I own lots of cookery books. They don't get used much: everything is mostly memory and the CAS. Oh, and guesswork, of course.
I have a small notebook of CAS recipes, which my mum first wrote up for me when I went away to university. The published books I own are almost exclusively savoury-based - and I tend to investigate them if I want to cook something a bit unusual for someone else, or to get ideas rather than actually following a recipe in particular.
I'm actually very fond of Jamie Oliver's cookbooks, even if he himself is an annoying little tit.
