Don't change that song, it's my favourite record

I've got one line of a song stuck in my head, and I can't work out whence it comes.

I think it's the second half of a couplet, and the line is "you wanna be in a band?". And despite my failures here on LJ with graphical scores in the past, the basic shape of the line is:
- - - _-'-

There's a break in the lyrics just before that line, and it's a bloke's voice singing.

It's something kind of late 70s/early 80s New Wave sounding. I thought initially it was from Dancing The Night Away by The Motors, but a quick listen demonstrated that this isn't the case.

I'm not thinking of the Veruca Salt song you get if you google for the line.

Help?

Google's not really going to help: 153 hits for "you wanna be in a band"; 2230 using "want to" instead. Then there's a possibility of "the" band, or "inna" band (which it ought to be if using all the possible contractions).

And I'm not going to be any good either, except at pointing out the obvious, I'm afraid.

Radiohead's Anyone Can Play Guitar?

Destiny... destiny protect me from the world
Destiny... hold my hand, protect me from the world

Here we are, with our running and confusion
And I don’t see no confusion anywhere

As the world does turn
And if london burns
I’ll be standing on the beach with my guitar
I wanna be in a band
When I get to heaven
Anyone can play guitar and they won’t
Be a nothing anymore

Grow my hair... grow my hair I am jim morrison
Grow my hair... I wanna be wanna be wanna be jim morrison

Here we are, with our running and confusion
And I don’t see no confusion anywhere

As the world does turn
And if london burns
I’ll be standing on the beach with my guitar
I wanna be in a band
When I get to heaven
Anyone can play guitar and they won’t
Be a nothing anymore

Sadly, no, that's not it. Though I am firmly (and somewhat lonely-ly) in the "Pablo Honey is the best Radiohead album" camp :)

Which song ?

I'm not going to be helpful and answer your question or anything, but I thought I might ask you one instead:

Don't change that song, it's my favourite record

Where's that from ? If you asked me I'd say it was a Faster Pussycat lyric (which it is), but something tells me you've probably got it from somewhere else !

Nope, you're dead right.

The lyrics in my subject lines don't always bear any relation to what I'm listening to, and I'd had Faster Pussycat on earlier in the day.
