Life is a lemon and I want my money back

I'm doing Wet January.

Carrying on with this nonsense">On Thursday, ChrisC's old friend Xian was joining us for our evening giggage. Since we were meeting for a meal beforehand, I'd deliberately not introduced any new drinks; I wanted to keep my options open in case he proposed anything radical like wine with dinner. Basically, I don't feel I know Xian that well and wasn't that keen to have to explain that I was an idiot following a set of capriciously arbitrary rules throughout January. (I mean, I am, but that's not the point.)

Anyway, he didn't. My idiocy came up later, towards the end of the gig, when we got to the "another pint?" question. He opted for shandy, I dropped down to a half instead. So I got home post-gig without having had my day's new drink. Accordingly, I had a tactical hot-water-with-lemon to get it onto the list.

Which meant that on Friday (rejoice! rejoice!) I could have my usual-early morning beverage. And I had no complications for the rest of the day, so had a cup of proper tea once I got into work.

Day 4: hot-water-with-lemon
Day 5: tea

I have read that the New York Times' style guide is applied with such rigidity that their directory of popular musicians includes a "Mr Loaf".
