The latest Windows updates mean that the Windows mechanism for editing environment variables no longer sucks.

This is very exciting.

(Also, right-click seems to work as paste in a DOS box command prompt, which is useful but unexpected. Having spent so long being annoyed that it didn't do that, I'm constantly thrown when it does.)

I'm sticking with Win7 for videogames as long as possible - given how long XP lingered on after its first official end date, I hope that'll postpone the problem for a while.

(Also I can't really complain if updates break it because shiver me timbers, Jim lad, if you get my meaning...)

Given that an early Windows 10 update also fixed the copying of text from a command prompt (i.e. it does proper line-wrapping, rather than selecting a comedy rectangular region) I'd say they're finally making real progress :-)
