Going nowhere, going nowhere...

It's a long shot...

Does anyone in vaguely plausible car-range have a static exercise bike that they would be willing/able to lend me for a few weeks?

(Or, I suppose, one of those Thingies that converts a real bike, though I don't think they're very common.)

Not cheap but I think this is what you want:

One kudo to you :)

Yup, that is the Thingy :-)

Given that I expect only to want it for 3-4 weeks, and have no space in my flat for an exercise bike (or bike) long term I was hoping someone had one mouldering unused in a garage (or similar)!

Thanks very much for the offer, but it is specifically a bike I need - it's more about range-of-movement than actual exercise.

I have been specifically forbidden from any other form of exercise but told to do - wait for it - 2 minutes at no resistance on an exercise bike. Previously I've been going to a gym (either near office of near home) but I was trying to find slightly less effortful solutions for just 2 minutes :)

A turbo trainer is indeed the thingy - do you know anyone who does road cycling? Because someone who might own and use one in winter probably isn't using it now because they're out on the roads...

Machine Mart (curiously) sell cheap turbo trainers.

Wanna go use my mums? Can give you the key safe and alarm details... And she would love to help out. Also has ski thing for keeping knee straight.

Oh, thanks! Actually, I discovered that people sell exercise bikes for next to bugger all on eBay. So for ten quid and a drive to Kings Cross to collect it, I now have a shiny exercise bike of my very own!
