[Poll #2050657]

Why yes, the day's work has left me mildly hysterical, thank you for asking.

All I ask is that a capital letter Ii, a small letter Ll, a number one and one of these | look different from each other.

Further, I would like to ask people not to call variables stupid things like Il1, but that appears to be a big ask in the world of other people's physics code.

YES. Also O and 0. It's the C21st, we can afford the extra characters.

I, erm, like it both ways.

Also, Fix You is one of my most-hated songs, because it's almost a song I would really like, but no. It annoys me that it manages to make me well up even though I can see it coming and try to stoke up on rage at helpy masculinity. Terrible songs should not be so well written.

Not an unreasonable request.

The other day, trying to construct an elaborate emoticon, I couldn't find the | anywhere. I looked for ages.

In the end I had to let my fingers type a Unix command line that required it. It turned out they knew exactly where it was :)

I despise almost all Coldplay for that, or similar reasons. Ugh. So whiney.

But you may have a kudo for complaining about the correct song :)

I was quite surprised to discover I knew what this was as well; I didn't think they'd got that far into my head. (IMO there is one (1) acceptable Coldplay song, which is Shiver, because it's in 6/8, aka the not nearly common enough Metal Waltz, and if I had the range to sing the bassline from the chorus I'd do it all day, so I have to sing it with a bass instead. I understand there's some warbling and strumming and stuff going on too but whatever.)

(No, hang on, 12/8, but that makes it even better.)

I will admit to a sneaking sort-of fondness for Fix You because of David Tennant using (a few seconds of) it to wind up Noel Fielding on Buzzcocks. That doesn't mean I would listen to it voluntarily under any other circumstances, however.

I dunno about coding but fixed width font is essential for reading nucleotide sequences.

So how is this supposed to work? One uses a variable-width font and relies on real / virtual tabs for the indenting? And there are real, live people who do this?! (writes an old fart weasel)
