When every day you make me go to hell and back with you
I seem to be pioneering a new branch of science, which I have christened Human Bruise Chromatography.
At present, the roll call stands at:
1. A sort of gone-off green on one forearm, where I had a cannula fitted.
2. A rather tarry black behind my knee, which I think is just general bruising settling at the lowest point (I'm sitting down with my legs up a lot).
3. A frankly improbable highlighter-pen yellow slowly spreading over my shin.
4. A rather half-hearted purple-yellow starting to creep out from behind the various dressings (I have four separate operation sites).
5. A nice pallet of greens, reds and violets across my abdomen, from daily anti-DVT injections. (I think I'm getting better at not leaving huge marks, though!)
It's all very colourful! Need to collect some blues, though.

Gravity does awesome things to bruises. The back injury that bruised down my thigh to my knee was amazingly impressive.

Ok, I see now I am a complete amateur :) I shall continue to dabble and submit my results to you!

Well, I have been sadly lacking in photos to post to G+ of late... On second thoughts, maybe not :)

(I wasn't suggesting actually posting the photos - just the hex codes ... [grin])

Presently I have a good one caused by the practice nurse failing to find a suitable blood vessel.

Was there any reason for bruisey mailservers? I keep thinking there must be a really bad pun than I'm missing.

You say "ouch" but actually it's quite painless, just spectacular - a haggled blood vessel near the surface is a good recipe for something that looks amazing but doesn't do anything much.

Bah!
quite painless
Ah. Good. I've been told that people "failing to find a suitable blood vessel" isn't pleasant. I wouldn't know, I have veins like 6-lane motorways.

I think you should have words with that purple one, it really ought to be providing some blue shading. Or possibly the black one might go that way.
