Help, Ive broken it!
At the moment, I can log into livejournal, but as soon as I navigate to another part of the site, I'm all logged out again.
I can't find anything about this in the FAQ, and though the support site lists this as a 'known problem', the post is from August, and Ive never had any problems like this before.
Anybody know what might be happening, and whether I've done something stupid ?
(I'm using Fisher-Price Windows, if that's relevant)

All's well....?
Obviously just one of them there things...
Re: All's well....?
If you use 'per session' logins (as opposed to leaving a computer permanently logged in as 'venta') then some browsers [I've seen both IE5 and IE6 do this] will occasionally log you out based on things you do in other browser windows.
So, for example, I've been reading something and I think "Oh, I know, I'll write some terribly clever comment" - but then I discover I'm not clever enough so I so a quick Google in another window before writing the comment only to discover that the browser has forgotten who I am ! (Incidentally, when this happens IE also loses the text of the comment for you - great, eh ?)
All's not 100% well
It appears to be the case that when I log in, the log in screen is displayed fine, but the little progress bar at the bottom of IE never actually completes. I'm assuming that this is reflecting the fact that the server-side business of logging in is somehow not completed yet.
Thus when I move to a different page it doesn't know I've logged in, because as far as it's concerned, the log in process never completed.
I know nothing about the mechanics of this kind of thing, so may be spouting complete arse, here...
Computer influence
I get this problem...
It doesn't sound like this is what you're experiencing though.
I don't think you've broken it...
And I have to admit, on long or witty posts, I generally select all of the text and do a quick CTRL-C before hitting 'Post Comment.' That way if LJ's server dies a quick death, I can repost without worrying about the system losing it when I hit the 'back' key.
This problem is not going away
Unfortunately, having read various people's journals this morning, there were no comments I wanted to make. So I'm adding spurious comments to my *own* posts, just so I can log in.
Bah.

Re: This problem is not going away
Can I blame NTL for this as well, then ?
Re: This problem is not going away
I've had a similar problem at home, including on my new laptop. The laptop works fine from the office but sometimes breaks as described at home.
I therefore blame NTL and their dodgy web cache/proxies.
After a truly dire patch on tuesday, they seem to have rebooted them or something as everything is much happier and LJ seems to be working as normal again, has your problem disappeared?
Re: This problem is not going away
(Mind you, I think work's connection is also NTL, though I didn't notice the problem here anyway)
Re: This problem is not going away
It's gone...
Of course, instead IE hung randomly, on average once every three-four pages. Unsure whether to blame IE, XP, NTL or some other bunch of letters :)
