I've always disliked balancing sports, from skateboards to ice skating, so never could face downhill skiing. I tried cross-country once, but hated the feeing of slipping around with wood tied to my feet waiting to dislocate something if I fell, so switched to snowshoeing, which felt so much more solid. I think as you age you get more aware of the downsides of actions, so my caution keeps increasing, and I have to push myself outside my comfort zone sometimes.
