It was just that all the things which immediately sprung to mind to complete the sentence hadn't changed. I don't look any different, for example.
And writing the sentence "back when I was young and foolish" implies I'm old and wise now :) Older and wiser, maybe, but my foolishness still astounds me sometimes...
