Pick up my pen and start to write. I struggle, fight dark forces.
Bookkeeping for New Year's Resolutions, June edition.
Sleeping
This continues to be a not-terribly-successful area of my life. June was very, very busy - I'd inadvertently arranged things for the first four weekends, and then went away for a week to Glastonbury. I love Glastonbury, but no one ever said it was a good place to catch up on sleep.
So, I got through the month without mishap, but still can't honestly say I've met my feeling-well-slept-and-full-of-beans target.
On the plus side, recent time-table changes courtesy of First Great Western have introduced a new train of a morning. The 0817 misses out some of the little stations on the route to Reading, making it very slightly faster. OK, so it'll only save me around ten minutes, but on a ninety-minute commute I'll take what I can get. So, my new goal is to aim for the 0817 each day - it'll get me to work in time to do a full day, and catch the corresponding "fast" train home in the evening.
I've noted for some time that if I have a reason I actually have to get up, I can do it without problems. So I'm hoping that having a hard(ish) deadline of a particular train to catch might persuade me to get up.
Writing
A definite "could do better" in this area. I do a lot of writing on trains to work, and I've ended up driving more than usual this month, so haven't had as much time as usual. Plus, a week away. Also, circumstances attacked me and caused me to cancel attending one of the writers' triangle meetings. So, all in all, not a lot of writing has happened in the latter half of the month.
Quite a bit happened in the first half, but I'm not convinced any of it is any cop, so I haven't inflicted it on anyone yet.
There are still four pieces of writing out in the wild, about which I am waiting to hear.
Reading
I mentioned last month that I'd managed to start a new book from the list on May 31st... and was rather disappointingly still reading it as June ended. In fact, as I write this I still am reading it. This is a combination of less reading time than usual (I also read on trains, and you can't take library books to Glastonbury), the book's length, and my finding it extraordinarily hard going.
So I have been putting the effort into this resolution this month, but no actual results to show yet. I have a couple of library books lined up

In my mind this was by Faith No More, but a check suggests it was by Faithless. Close, except remarkably not.

I often have the problem of mixing up dissimilar bands with similar names. Then people say "but they're nothing like each other", and I think yes, I know that. I don't confuse the bands. I confuse the band-names!

(So long as they make sensible remarks about lyrics while they're waiting ;)
