I see you dancing, take all your choices

It's Friday! It's about three o'clock! It's time to Boogie At Your Desk!

Friday afternoons need a little something. I think they need a Top Tune. Something to make you shuffle in your seat and, if possible, Boogie At Your Desk.

I'm not claiming that any track provided to enable At-Desk Boogying is one of the world's best or most profound pieces of music. It will, however, be a tune which makes me smile, and which has at some stage made me surreptitiously Boogie At My Desk.

Desks are not compulsory, of course. Feel free to boogie through your office, in your bedroom, round your lab, across your classroom, on the train - wherever you find yourself on a Friday afternoon.

If you like the track, go out and buy the album it belongs to - I'll try and recommend a suitable CD to purchase for any BAYD track.

The link to the mp3 will expire at some point in the future.

Today you are invited to Boogie At Your Desk to:

Radio 4 - Enemies Like This [link to mp3 download expired, or YouTube link may still be active]

I met Radio 4 by accident... wow, nearly 8 years ago (they were a headline band, I was there to see the support). And I'm slighttly surprised to find that we've never boogied to them.

Anyway. They are a New York band, with spikey guitars[*] and drums. Lots, and lots of drums. Recorded, they don't have the hugely overwhelming effect that they have live, but they've still got an enjoyably driving sound. If Enemies Like This is a bit poundy for you, try the gentler Grass is Greener instead.

Looking at Wikipedia, it seems they haven't released anything since 2006's Enemies Like This, which is a bit of a shame. They are not defunct, allegedly, but they don't seem terribly funct either.

[*] I'm sure with some suitably ropey amps there's a Feedback from Radio 4 joke to be had somewhere.

Poundy? Going to have to have a listen to that!

Gosh, not sure it would be ... enough for a connoisseur of poundy :) What did you think?

[grin] Having now had a chance to listen, not sure I'd describe it as especially heavily poundy, but definitely reminds me of Therapy? (which, on my personal scale, is a Good Thing (TM)).

Thumbs up from me.
