Photo project...

Someone just sent me the address of yet another mickey-take 404 page, which I kind of liked. Then again, I'm easily amused.

However, poking round that site, I found this (which is a prospective entry for a competition).

The basic idea is that a list of 26 words is provided, and you are to take a "creative" photo to represent each word. The competition was running over July, so I've kind of missed that boat. However, I think it's a nice concept.

I might try and follow that list. Or I might write my own, and encourage other people to follow it. Any of you photographing types interested ?

Sounds like a great idea. I've been meaning to take more photos - and while I'm no expert my favourite LJ entry was when I put together a photo-montage of my weekend (using clip-art) rather than write... http://www.livejournal.com/users/kneeshooter/19185.html

All that is a long winded way of saying "I'm in!".

My camera's still broken.

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oh dear :( What's up with it ? Is there hope ?

[identity profile] bateleur.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
It claims all SmartMedia cards are broken. (My SmartMedia reader says otherwise.)

Is there hope ? Well that depends on whether I can persuade Olympus (there are no 3rd party repair options really) that they don't need to see my receipt. I mean - I could show them my receipt, but it's an email so I doubt they'd be impressed !

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Of course. A digital one. I didn't think of that (stupidly), and there are far fewer things to go wrong with the old-skool kind :)

G'luck persuading them...

After trying card reader and sample memory stick on all the machines in their lab, Acer claimed that my Sony Memory Sticks were broken. Either that or both my Belkin Reader and my Sony Camcorder.

And, by extension, Liz's laptop, because they worked perfectly on that.

Wasn't impressed.

Yeah, sounds like it'll be interesting to see people's assorted takes on different things.

[identity profile] narenek.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds fun, might be nice with fewer words though.

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I thought that :)

[identity profile] wimble.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
OED's word of the day for today is "audit, v."

Which would make an interesting way of doing this...

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
interesting

You keep using zis word... I no' sure it means wha' you think it means...

:)

[identity profile] wimble.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't say good. I'm just wondering if I can get it to pick "defenestration", or "antidisestablishmentarianism".

I'm suprised at you picking on my use of interesting. I thought that we'd already established that it was obviously that we disagreed over.

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
You think I only disagree with one thing at once ?

Fool.

:)

[identity profile] wimble.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
Well, if you're intent on picking on me, you'd be able totally kill something off if you focused on it to the exclusion of other problems.

Obviously

[identity profile] bateleur.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, dear, my sick brain automatically parsed that as intent® !

[identity profile] neilh.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
And with less wishy washy generic words, I'm sure you could pick some good ones!

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Er, oh... the genericness was one of the things I liked, otherwise it just becomse a standard take-a-photo-of-an-X competition.

Which words were you considering particularly wishywashy ?

[identity profile] neilh.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
Things like 'love'. I don't mind abstract (more scope like that) or ambiguous, but really it needs the application of either some imagination or the hand of complete randomness...I like the word-of-the-day approach and might just start doing that anyway.

Pop's up hand.

[identity profile] davefish.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
I've got film to use, and camera to play with, so count me in.

Re: Pop's up hand.

[identity profile] wimble.livejournal.com 2003-07-31 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
And she picks on my use of words! I don't think that apostrophe means what you think it means.

Unless you've got a sentient can of Coke, that is. And it's got one hand raised. Which, I'll have to admit, you might just have.

Nope, and eavesdropping s with one ear chopped off.

Dropping eaves is dangerous.
