Last year, there was a Lego Christmas tree at St Pancras. I nearly didn't get to see it, because ChrisC only mentioned it by chance, having not thought I'd be especially bothered. Sometimes I wonder if he's met me.

Anyway, last week he made sure to notify me as soon as he heard there was going to be a Lego dinosaur in St Pancras. A Lego dinosaur! Bring it on.

So, having wandered round various bits of the Museum of London and the Barbican, we set off to stroll to... where is it again? St Pancras?

ChrisC checked and confirmed that yes, the Tiger Tracks campaign was kicking off at St Pancras and there was a Lego tiger.

Me: A Lego tiger?
C: Err... did I say dinosaur before?
Me: You did. Dinosaur, you said! You promised me a Lego dinosaur!
C: Err... err... did you know, there's a new kind of dinosaur been discovered recently?
Me: Are you going to tell me it's orange and stripey and furry?
C: Not furry exactly...

Anyway. I conceded eventually that a Lego tiger was still pretty good, and we commenced our strolling, taking in a couple of blue plaques on the way.

There were various bits of campaign, and people in virulently orange sweatshirts, lurking about in the station. Eventually, we spotted a nicely orange tiger in the distance and trotted over.



What do you notice about this tiger? It's large, it's orange, it's got a slightly scary expression and it's not even bloody made of Lego.

It's made of recycled plastics (mainly bottle tops, I think), and as models go, it's pretty cool. As a Lego dinosaur, it's rubbish.

ChrisC waved his internet source around (and IanVisits is usually pretty reliable), but the orange tiger wardens looked blank when we suggested that a Lego tiger might be somewhere. Nope, they said, no Lego tigers hanging around here.

For the forseeable future I shall regularly remind ChrisC that he promised me a Lego dinosaur, and has not delivered. Yet.

It's a big station - this was kind of in the middle of the concourse, but in a bit you could easily miss if you were just changing trains or something.

I think that must be related, though I didn't see any trailers for the competition in the station. I think the tigerwardens said that the recycled tiger we saw was going to be auctioned towards the end of the month - do you have space in your house for a rather large recycled tiger?

There seems to be generally lots of tigery stuff going on at St Pancras this month, anyway!

I would observe that in the totally unbiased and absolutely authoritative online poll I conducted some time back, Tigers beat dinosaurs by a margin of four to one. Admittedly, the question I asked didn't involve dinosaurs at all, but even if you add the votes for dragons to the sole dinosaur vote, the victory still belongs to the stripey dorables.

However, I'll definitely agree that it isn't made out of lego, and is thus inferior to the promised version.

Hardly even related to the matter in hand!

Besides, since I'm talking about Lego models, everyone knows that bigger is better. And most reasonable dinosaurs are bigger than tigers. QED.

Well, clearly you can't believe everything you read on the internet (bloody Lego, mutter mutter), but I believe all signs point to him being there until approximately the end of March.
